Russia’s Interautomatika files 177 mln rbl suit against Siemens
MOSCOW, Dec 11 (PRIME) -- Russian company Interautomatika, an alleged contractor for construction of thermal power plants in Crimea, has filed a 177.1 million ruble suit against Germany’s Siemens to the Moscow Arbitration Court, as seen by PRIME on Monday in the register of arbitration cases.
Besides Siemens AG, the suit lists Russian affiliates of the company Siemens LLC and Siemens Gas Turbine Technologies as defendants. The court has not launched proceedings over the suit yet, and the suit’s matter was not disclosed.
Siemens said in July that all the four turbines meant to be used on a Russian power plant on the Taman Peninsula were illegally shipped to Crimea, forcing it to cancel its licensing agreements to sell power equipment to Russian firms and suspend the current agreements with state-run companies. Later Siemens filed a claim against state industrial corporation Rostec’s companies seeking to void a delivery contract.
According to Reuters, Interautomatika, in which Siemens owns about 46%, acted as one of the contractors for installation of the turbines in Crimea. This was also the pretext for the E.U. to introduce sanctions against the company.
